General Troubleshooting Steps
Run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant
Download and run SaRA from aka.ms/SaRA. It will automatically detect the issue and guide you through the fix.
Check your internet connection
Office 365 requires a stable internet connection during installation. Switch to a wired connection if possible and disable any VPN.
Free up disk space
The installation requires at least 4 GB of free disk space on Windows and 10 GB on Mac. Delete temporary files or move large files to free up space.
Temporarily disable antivirus software
Some antivirus programs block the Office installer. Disable your antivirus temporarily during installation, then re-enable it once Office is installed.
Run the installer as administrator (Windows)
Right-click the Office installer file and select "Run as administrator" to ensure it has the permissions it needs.
Restart and try again
After running SaRA or making any changes, restart your computer and attempt the installation again from microsoft365.com.
